Silver Valley East

Classic distance orienteering event
noon – 1:00pm
Silver Valley, 2004, Magnus Johansson, Ted de St. Croix, Lehel Fenyo, Thomas Nipen, 1: 10 000, 5 m contour interval.
Open forest with good visibility, expect slower running in areas with deadfall. Steep ridges with flat, detailed sections on top. Huge cliffs, boulders, and knolls. Some close to impassable, old clearcuts make for interesting route choices. Northern part: some logging roads, but no trails. Southern part: hiking trail network and mountain bike trails.

In pursuit of fairness, orienteers planning to remain eligible for the BC Championships Classic Distance, are asked to refrain from visiting the UBC Research Forest area with a map until the event takes place. The embargoed area includes the region east of North Allouette River and north of Maple Ridge.

Silver Valley West
Short distance orienteering event
10:00 am – 11:00 am
Silver Valley, 2004, Magnus Johansson, Ted de St. Croix, Lehel Fenyo, Thomas Nipen, 1: 10 000, 5 m contour interval.
Mainly open forest with denser sections. Some distinct hills with clearings. Part of the forest has been heavily managed with trees in a grid network. Intricate trail network close to finish area.
