The Williams Lake Orienteering Club is holding an orienteering event just off Highway 97, 5.5 km south of 150 Mile House, Sunday, June 14, 2009.
Maps will be provided. Although a compass is recommended, no special equipment is required. Hiking or running shoes and outdoor clothing or old sweatsuit are suitable. There will be some water stations at some checkpoints, but we recommend you bring a water bottle especially it the weather is warm. Printed instructions and an instructor will be available to assist you before you start a course.
You may orienteer as an individual, with a partner, or go as a group or family. The event is score Orienteering where you can visit a few or as many checkpoints as you wish (it's up to you) within the time limit of 2 hours. As well, a point-to-point novice practise course will be set up for anyone wanting to see how usual competitive events are run.
Directions
From 150 Mile House, take Highway 97 south for 5.5 km Turn left onto Rodeo Drive and follow the signs.
Registration
Register anytime between 10:00 and 10:50 am. Mass start at 11:00. If you can't make it for 11:00, let us know and we'll try to accommodate you.
Newcomers are welcome. There will be a map/registration fee of $7/adults, $4/juniors (age 20 and under), and $16/family maximum. For this event you will recieve a FREE membership with your registration. (Due to insurance requirements you must be a member of an Orienteering Club or Association to participate in an orienteering event.)
