Orienteering
Training
General
Training
is an excellent way to build skills and improve your succes with orienteering.
Training can take many forms - from working on the physical training and orienteering
skills to developing the mental aspects of the sport.
For 2012, the club has organized the following:
- Sprint
Orienteering Training Camp (5 Feb) - this
is an annual training camp usually run in Vancouver hosted by the GVOC. This
year we are fortunate to have the training camp take place in Victoria. This
camp consists of an entire weekend of training and competitive events centred
around the spring orienteering format, which makes for very fast but easy
orienteering. An excellent way to improve your fitness and quick decision
making abilities. This event requires advanced registration. More details
to be found on the Sprint
Training Camp website.
-
Beaver
Lake Park Training Day (25 Mar) - a full day of
instruction and practice on orienteering skills including map interpretation,
compass skills, pacing (distance measuring), route choice, map memorization.
Different sessions can be organized from beginner to expert orienteers,
depending on interest.
Come
join us for any of these training events. They are usually free for club members.
New participants can join in by buying a $5 membership.
