Event locations will feature Royal Roads University and Thetis Lake Park, and will include three key events - sprint, middle and long orienteering courses.

The VICTORIA ORIENTEERING FESTIVAL also includes the BC Orienteering Championships.

New Sprint map to ISSOM standards for the interesting and varied terrain of the Royal Roads University Campus area.

Revised and updated Royal Roads and Thetis Lake Maps for medium and long events.

Terrain

The long event terrain is typical pacific northwest coast often dense forest with complex knoll/forest/rock outcrop detail and challenging route choices. Medium event terrain is varied with primarily runnable Douglas Fir forest, rocky knolls, open areas, trails networks, man made features. The sprint event is held at the beautiful Royal Roads University Campus with a variety of natural as well as man-made features.

Event Locations and Parking

Sprint and Middle: Royal Roads University, University Drive, Colwood (Victoria) BC (follow signs to parking). Approximately 40 minute drive from the Swartz Bay Ferry Terminal. $8 daily parking fee.

 
Long: Thetis Lake Park, north end of Six Mile Road, View Royal (Victoria) BC. $2 parking fee.  

Banquet

6 PM Saturday, September 18th at the MFRC Colwood Pacific Centre, 2610 Rosebank Road, Colwood (Victoria), BC. Catered by a local Army Cadet Corps Sponsor Committee.

Sport Ident will be used for all events. Please bring your SI stick if you have one. If not, SI Rental - $2/day or $5 for all three events

Registration and Package Pickup will be located at assembly area and can be picked on Saturday Sept 18th starting at 9:00 AM, or one hour before the start of subsequent events if only registering for specific events.

Courses and Classes

Championship Classes  
  • Competitors are divided into classes according to their gender and age.
  • Competitors may choose to run on a higher course, if they prefer.
  • This event will not make a distinction for those in the Elite Class.
Open Classes  
  • This class is open to anyone not wanting to compete in the competitive classes and is suitable for beginners, family groups (up to three) and those with injuries.
  • Non-Competitive Men and Women's Open Classes are limited to Courses C-1 through C-3 for the Sprint, Middle and Long Courses ($10 per entry)
  • Open classes are also available for C-4 to C-6 for the Middle and Long Distance, but regular fees do apply.
  • Standings will be published, but medals will not be awarded for participants in the Open Class.
