University of Victoria Orienteering Event

Event Registration: begins at 12:30
Timed Starts between 1:00 - 1:45 pm.

Head to UVic for a fun afternoon, and a great follow-up for those who attended our training day. Newcomers are always welcome. UVIC is excellent terrain for new and advanced orienteers. The campus buildings and accompanying forest areas offer some great variety and options for different route choices. This is a B-Meet event and also the first event of the Island Series!

Courses:
Orienteers will have an option of trying one of five cross-country courses developed by highly experienced course planner, Carl Coger, in classic “B” meet format. Courses carefully graded from beginner to advanced level courses available:

C-1 Novice (mainly on trail) Approx length 2 km
C-2 Novice / Intermediate (mainly on trail and slightly off trail controls) Approx length 3 km
C-3 Intermediate (more challenging routes/controls) Approx length 3.5 km
C-4 Advanced (lots of route choice) Approx length 5 km
C-6 Advanced Elite (lots of running and route choice!) Approx length 7 km

Location: Event Registration is on the east side of Parking Lot 2, near the McKinnon Gym. Enter from McKenzie Avenue. Parking is free on Sundays.

Fees:
Annual membership: $5 (if not already a VicO member)
Event fee: $8 per adult $5 for junior (19 and under) participants

Please bring your own whistle and compass.
If required, whistles may be purchased at registration for $2 and compasses may also be rented at registration for $2. Limited quantity available.
